Cross-Cultural Comparison of Student Attitudes toward Snakes

This study investigates the attitudes of Turkish and Slovakian students toward snakes with emphasis on the "negativistic" and "naturalistic" dimensions. Turkish students have more positive "scientistic" and naturalistic attitudes than Slovakian students; females have more negative attitudes toward snakes than males.

Third of Open Ocean Sharks Face Extinction: Study

One third of the world's open water sharks are in danger of extinction, according to a major conservation study of 64 species of sharks. Those sharks facing the greatest risk are those hunted directly for meat and fins as well as those caught as "bycatch" by tuna and swordfish operations.

Apartments.Com National Survey Reveals Renters are Living for their Pets

According to an Apartments.com survey of a thousand renters from throughout the U.S., nearly 90% currently have a pet and of those who do not own a pet, more than half plan to get one over the next year. A strong majority of renters (80%) said a pet-friendly policy played a major role in where they chose to live.
