Hello all!
Greetings from snowy Finland :)
Jana asked me to join this forum and start with telling about my trip
to Prague in September. Naturally i also took some hamsters with me -
two campbells to Jana and three campbells from Jana to me.
I flight by Finnair, and must say that there was many silly
misunderstoods during the trip.
First, I was pretty scared about the price of travelling with
hamsters, on Finnairs web page they say that it costs 27 euros per
animal in cabin. Well, after a call to Finnair customer service the
price was 11 euros per kilo. Well, i told them that I will took one
box with me to cabin.
At Helsinki's airport I finally got knew, that the real price really
was 11 euros per kilo, because animals were as extra luggage. The lady
on the check in disk was quite shocked when she saw my animalcarriage,
she started to laugh and said that there was only a mention "animal
carriage" on the computer and she waited dog or something. And the
funniest thing was, that they were booked a SEAT next to me to my pet
on the last row, and my travel accompanion was on the firs row...
Well, luckily the lady put us to seat next to anohter, when I said
that my hamsters can really travell on the floor.
The think I was scared most was the security control. In Helsinki a
security man wanted to see inside the boxes. So, I had to took
hamsters on my hands. You can only think how many people stared at me
when I was there with two hamters on hands!
Although, we finally get ourselves to Prague and hamsters were well.
In Prague, Ruzyne airport everything was little more difficult, maybe
due that check-in ladies weren't Finair's own stuff. After all running
between check-in disk and Finnair's serving disk, we finally got paid
my animal carriage (it was more expensive from Pragu than from
Helsinki!) and got ourselves to security control. I showed the box to
lady on the control and I said that there was animals. I was quite
shocked when se said that "yeah yeah, and but the box through the
'x-ray machine' (i don't know the real name in english). But luckilly
hamsters were well after that and also after flight to Helsinki. Oh, I
was so happy when we arrived to Helsinki with my three beautiful
albinos and many good memories from Prague :)
