Mike,
>>>to announce to the world that had aquired sick animals is just bad form,
shame on you.
I am not the one posting about her hamstery having Papova/Polyoma. Jana is
the one who has been posting about it for months now on international boards.
http://www.petwebsite.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=44105&whichpage=2http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/hamstersinfocus/message/2472
>>>She has been in quarantine for 6 months and working closely with her
Vet. She has been Given the all clear by her vet to resume breeding.
Perhaps her vet has learned more than we know so far about the virus. I know
many people would love to hear that information too. Just in last month's SHC
journal (a BHA affiliate club), another member is writing about putting all
hamsters in her hamstery down due to the virus. The virus is still moving
around even in places like Britain that have been battling this for years.
Please share if there is now more info which everyone should know. The rest
of the world may still be in the dark about this disease, and we would
appreciate any information to help deal with this disease.
This is the article most commonly referenced. You can read how difficult it
is to get rid of the disease. This is from real experience in Britain and
from the research done at the time. Like I said, if this research is dated
and we now have more, we need to share it.

Well, Linda. Don't judge me if you don't know me, my hamsters, my
hamstery and all about previous quarantine I did etc. I am daring to
tell I know more about HaPV then anybody of you breeders from the
USA.

That's sad you are comparing me to Dalmatian man after all that I
know and wrote about him. He would be happy to hear you... But I
can't change your opinion.

Hi Jana
There has been many papers on hamster genetics in The Journal of Heredity, but I
can only recall one of them with photos of hairs in the microscope. I will find

Do you know in which number/numbers of Journal of heredity was it
included? Any complete one? I think you must pay for it to read some
infos isn't it so? Can you send me link to?
Thanks for help Jana

I guess the first question is what are you looking to compare?
their has been a lot of research done on Hamster Hairs in the past,
good source of information is the journal of heredity.
Are you looking to compair the hair structures them selves, which
will be different in the hair type mutations, or are you looking to
compair the Color pigmentations?

Recently Received a List that had Long haired Campbells on it. This

I am thinking these might actually be satins..But one never knows
soon as they arive I will up date here. If they are indeed Long Haired
I will post some pics.

Feeling the need to bring in some new blood both in Syrian and in
Campbells.
Looking for Fancy hamsters that have do not carry black, yellow or
Ed. Would especially like to locate some of the silvers/grays/and
Recessive dappled
In Campbells looking for most anything, Especially Mottled and
Satins. I would prefure animals that do not have the Umbrouse in the
back ground.
I can also use new blood in my winter whites, Roborvski and
chinese lines.
I am located in Maine but willing to travel new England and
further on the east cost, also will ing to pay shipping cost ( depends
on the quality of animals and colors)
Please Email me off List at Drdoolitel@... Thanks Mike
Thanks Kenneth
I think i will test mate mom to a cream to see what i get in the
next litter, and the dad i will mate up to a Calico and work from
there. Iit will be interesting to see what I get
Again Thanks for the input.

Hi Mike
I have to give up on it, but your guess about umbrous could probably still
hold. The underfur seems lighter with just darker guard hairs.
Kenneth
Thanks Kenneth
I just up loaded what i hope is a better pic of the mother. I can
say for sure she is not a torti or calico I have these.. actually she
they remind me of Nutmeg in Gerbils. as the ticking on the coat came in
as she got older, seems the older she gets the more ticking she has.
The look is not as dark on the male I think this could be due to
him having the teddy coat and there for more of the under coat shows.
I have been pulling these out as they show up in the litters
including this litter I now have about 2o of this color.
I just have to figure out what they are.

Hi Mike
It IS difficult to tell from pics, especially with such colours. And the
sunlight/shade in some of the pictures doesn't help.
Daddy could be umbrous/dark agouti/maybe umbrous yellow (haven't seen that
colour before). The belly colour should tell if he is umbrous or not (darker
grey than normal).
In picture 3 mom looks a little spotted, suggesting a tortie of some kind.
She doesn't look to be "blackish" ruling out yellow black.
Kenneth
seems this list has been quit for a while, some of you may know
that I was in an auto accdent at the end of May of last year, which
forced me to reduce and to stop breeding . But after 9 months, two
hand surgeries, and OT I am now back and starting to breed again.
I would like to aquire some quality stock, specially looking for
silvers, grays, RD, and rust to work with for a while. Also looking
for quality Campbells.
I have no troubles with traveling on the east cost to pic up
animals if need be.
I have also up loaded some pics of syrian hamsters that i can't
figure out the color of, there are pics of mom, dad and the litter.
My thoughts are that these might be black yellows or unbrous
yellows.. I know a pic is not the same as seeing the animals in
person but any possable id is better them my guessing..
I can tell you the parents started out light like the babies and
darkened up withthe ticking as they got older..
Good to be back .. Mike
I have decided to stop breeding syrian hamsters..I have around 100
females and 25 males of diffrent variaties.. if interested email me off
list please..replies to the list will not be answered.. Email is
