Hi Stephanie,

I lost my sweet little Lily 2 years ago, then Toddy just last July. In my
original research on hedgehogs, I read that they live 6 - 10 years. This is
so not true. When I had to put Lily to sleep at the tender age of 3 due to
a tumor in her abdomen, it broke my heart. The vet told me then and there
that these little animal are a guaranteed heartbreak because they have such
huge personality but live such a short time. Toddy died of totally natural
causes, just started slowing down then one day I found him laying in his
cage barely breathing and very cold. I held him until he passed. It was
awful. He too was only 3. Sorry to say, I don't think I'll ever get
another hog because it's torture to get so attached and then have to lose
them. Good luck to you though...
