This group was formed to discuss Peppy, the Husky who's lived in a tiny little pen her whole life and to discuss getting laws against chaining and penning so dogs like her won't have to suffer in isolation.

This is NOT against the law but it should be.

New York State has a pending bill against tethering dogs for more than 6 hours per day ( Assembly version-A06553, Senate version-S 2052) Please write to the assembly and senate members, thank them for supporting this bill and ask for them to amend the bills to include a requirement for pens to be no less than 150 square feet of space. There are currently no laws regarding pen size which is what makes Peppy's situation legal.

It may be helpful to include Peppy's picture or of any dogs you know of in a similar situation.

I know this doesn't help Peppy today but if we can get some legislation on the books we can prevent this from happening again. Don't underestimate the power of your opinion to legislators--the gun lobby is a good example of the power of public pressure. You can do this right from your own home.
All you need is a postcard, a stamp, and five minutes of your time. You CAN make a difference.
