This is a "by invitation only" Yahoo Group dedicated to promoting the Swiss cattle driving and livestock guardian heritage of the Bernese Mountain Dog through education, communication, training and trialing in Herding events throughout the world. Indeed, embedded in the Swiss name for the breed, Berner Sennenhund,is the explanation of the function of the breed: "Alpine herdman's dog from the Swiss canton of Bern".

At least ONE hands-on 'herding' experience is required of the handler AND/OR the dog prior to joining this Yahoo Group, such as a clinic, a lesson, tests or trials or actual livestock work.
