I've kept indigos at the zoo where I work and I love them. But, I would never
keep them at home. I am inherently lazy and decided a while back to get rid of
all my colubrids and focus on pythons because of the ease of their care,
particularly their constant deffication. Everyone I know (about 3 keepers or
more) that kept indigos at home got rid of them in a few months or years, I
guess people just got tired of cleaning up after them. Regardless, they are an
awesome snake and I'd love to hear any stories once you get them.

Subject: [Herpetology Central] Thinking about getting an indigo.
Hey all, I'm considering purchasing an indigo snake. So far my interstate
commerce form is good for go, and I am waiting for my permit to go thru the
state right now. I think i have found a good reputable breeder (herpetology
professor in arkansas). What do you think about indigos? I have kept them when i
worked in the reptile department at my local museum and i fell in LOVE with
them, but I'm worried it might be too risky of an investment. Thanks for the
input.
