Re: [Herpetology Central] Thinking about getting an indigo.

I've never heard of an indigo. Please, tell more about them. Are they truly
indigo colored? Almost all my experience has been with boas and pythons,
although I now also have cornsnakes.

And I'm very curious about the interstate commerce form and permits you
mentioned. Being very much what I consider a novice in snake ownership (never
having worked professionally in any capacity as a herpetologist) I have never
even thought about permits or the such, other than, of course, making sure that
it is legal to own large snakes where I live. (which is why I live out in the
country, because the nearest city does not allow snakes longer than 6 ft)

Hey all, I'm considering purchasing an indigo snake. So far my interstate
commerce form is good for go, and I am waiting for my permit to go thru the
state right now. I think i have found a good reputable breeder (herpetology
professor in arkansas). What do you think about indigos? I have kept them when i
worked in the reptile department at my local museum and i fell in LOVE with
them, but I'm worried it might be too risky of an investment. Thanks for the
input.

Skyler

I've kept indigos at the zoo where I work and I love them.  But, I would never keep them at home.  I am inherently lazy and decided a while back to get rid...

Not to change the subject but I never have thought about the possibility of needing permits. I'm pretty sure I'm ok with my couple of Chams, beardies, etc....
