Description

Holistarat was founded by me, spazrats, back in December 2002, for the purpose of being able to talk opening and freely about non-traditional ways of taking care of our pet rats, without the flame-wars that ensued on other rat forums every time the subject of holistic medicine was brought up. Just like any other rat forum on the internet, members talk about all aspects of rat care and health. Holistarat is a spin-off forum of "The Ratlist" and sister forum to "Rattie_Health".

This site is for those who have chosen to take responsibility for their pet rats' health.

Holistic simply means to take into account the whole body, which includes the personality, environment, and lifestyle, of the rat, and not just treating the symptoms of an ailment. In most cases Allopathic and Holistic Medicine can work in harmony and both will be discussed here.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU START YOUR HOLISTIC JOURNEY
For all new-comers to Holistarat. If you have come here to find the cure for Mycoplasmosis, or Cancer, we have not found the cure for either yet by the use of herbs and homeopathy. For any respiratory ailment it is highly recommended that you see your vet for a proper course of antibiotics. For cancer, surgical removal of the tumor is still the most effective. Use the holistic products recommended here to help support your rats' bodies in their effort to fight their diseases, whatever they may be, and gain back some quality of life. We have, however, found many holistic products that will heal the minor ailments of the body without resorting to drugs.

What is discussed here are suggestions only. Please see your veterinarian for the proper diagnosis of your rats' ailments, and illnesses. I am happy to say that we do have professionals in the medical and holistic field as members of this group.

I am not a veterinarian. I am someone who is passionate about complimentary medicine, and a gentler form of healing.

Sincerely,
Sandra Beasley (aka spazrats)
