In accordance with the Jewish imperative of preventing tsaar ba'alei chaim (the suffering of living creatures), Jemcats was created to share information aimed at reducing the suffering among the countless homeless cats of Jerusalem. We list cats and kittens that need homes and support the efforts of those who rescue cats and kittens in distress and provide appropriate veterinary care. We strongly support spaying and neutering in order to reduce overpopulation and lessen the misery suffered by the unwanted and abandoned.

While the focus of Jemcats is on the welfare of Jerusalem's street cats, we also invite questions, suggestions, and sound advice regarding the care of all cats, pet and otherwise.
