Sorry for the multiple messages on the same subject, but the RPOA sent
out the following information today that makes it even more urgent to
voice our opposition on this bill. The reason is that the bill MAY
CREATE A LOOPHOLE for BREED-SPECIFIC LEGISLATION, according to the
RPOA's attorney and legislative analyst, Zandra Alexander.
I faxed yesterday but this AM I called too, and it took me 2 minutes!
You can do it too. The people who support this bill and the banning of
Pit Bulls, Rottweilers and others are very organized and vocal.
----
It's not too late! The vote is later today and legislators are
listening.
Keep calling. Responsible Pet Owners Alliance is trying to get
amendments
made to the bill but can't without your help.
The message below is from Zandra Alexander.

From Zandra Alexander:
Please Forward
VOTING TODAY, MONDAY 4/23/07!! NEED YOUR HELP--FAX & CALL!!
Today is crucial for CALLING and FAXING (no email) your State
Representative because they are going to vote on HB 1355 later TODAY!!
Make your voice heard!!!
This bill makes it a felony if your dog gets out for the first time
and causes serious bodily injury or death.
Importantly, it contains a section on local regulation of dogs which
does not have the protection against Breed Specific Legislation like
our current law has. Therefore, the new law and current law is in
conflict. While I would argue that our state prohibits BSL, this new
law creates the possibility for a loophole for BSL.
Today, call and fax only your State Representative. We will focus on
the Senate later. Only the House is voting TODAY!!!
