The Highlight of the annual Austrian Veganmania tour took place this weekend in the capital Vienna
For the 12th year in a row festivals celebrating the vegan life style are being held in cities around Austria. Each year more cities are added to the tour and festivals are getting bigger and bigger. This year's Vienna Veganmania was no exception.
Despite terrible rain in the morning and the deeply worrying state repression against the Austrian animal rights movement, the festival was a huge success attracting massive crowds and giving thousands of people the opportunity to try out vegan food like tiramisu, burgers, schnitzel, doner kebab mango lassi and to inform themselves about how a vegan life style can contribute positively towards environmental issues, health, world hunger and, of course, reducing violence.
This year saw an increase in ethical clothing companies, which work with fair trade, organic cotton and leather and fur alternatives. The main stage boasted a host of bands and artists; MC Albino, Soey, Divine Sunshine, Officer Friendly, Plancton, sd4Art, DJ Delani and headlined by the Kafkas.
