This is a special edition of Monkey Tales. The
newsletter that was scheduled to be sent out
today will be sent out next month.

This is a very sad time at Mindy's, Missybelle
has passed away. Missybelle was a much loved
monkey who will be missed dearly.

Missybelle was an 8 year old Java Macaque. She
had been a former pet, who was cherished by her
owners, Lorraine and Joe. As she matured,
Lorraine and Joe thought she could be feeling
depressed since she was alone while they both
worked. After many tears, the decision was made.
Missybelle needed to be placed in a sanctuary
where she would have the company of other
monkeys. Missy did not have to go through the
normal stress of transport. Her owners came
along with her, driving straight through from
New York. Seeing that Missy was going to be
okay had to have eased their minds, that they
had made the correct decision. Missy was getting
along without human companionship for the first
time in her life. Once Missy was settled in, her
owners did not abandon her. To learn more about
Missy's life before Mindy's and her arrival at
Mindy's please visit http://www.mindysmem.org

Pet Owner.

With so much love in her life, she was one very
lucky monkey. Missybelle's time at Mindy's was
spent with Phoebus, a 5 year old Java Macaque.
Missybelle and Phoebus got along just great. In
fact they were like an old married couple. You
could hear them carrying on conversations with
each other, and they had actual arguments. These
arguments never turned into fights. When Missy
would see Linda coming, she would fold one arm
over her chest, lean forward and smack her lips
together.

For several months, Missybelle and Phoebus had
a very important job to do. They were in charge
of teaching Sunshine how to be a monkey.
Sunshine was a quick learner and was soon able
to be placed with much more active monkeys.
Missybelle and Phoebus were once again enjoying
the peace and contentment of retired life.
