We would like to welcome the new members to Monkey
Tales.
The Second Annual Toy Drive was a success. When
the monkeys receive toys, the toys are placed in
their enclosures while they are locked in a separate
area. They pace back and forth in anticipation,
seeming to tell Linda to hurry up. When they reenter
their enclosure there are squeals of delight.
Enough toys were donated for each enclosure to
receive a basketball, at least 2 tennis balls and a
busy box. Many of the macaques received sheets
and many of the capuchins received Playskool
musical toys, which play either music or electronic
sounds. Individual monkeys received rattles, action
figures, tug toys and an assortment of other toys.
Here is just an idea of what some of the individual
monkeys received:
Linus received a hard plastic golf bag which he
takes with him everywhere. Ginger, Linus, Garner
and Pumpkin received an xylophone which they
love to drag around. It plays as they bump the keys.
CJ is enjoying a duck that quacks when squeezed.
Cookie can be seen smiling next to a Barbie jeep
that is in her enclosure.
Sunshine, Detroit and Abu received a variety of
toys, such as busy boxes, rattles, plastic action
figures, tennis balls and basketballs. They all
share their toys and when one is done playing
with something another will play with it.
Cash donations had been made that were used
to buy pecans and basketballs for all of the
monkeys to enjoy.
They also received a supply of peanut butter
which will last for months.
A cart to help carry the monkeys food to their
enclosures was purchased with the help of a
cash donation.
Some people even shopped through IGIVE,
allowing the sanctuary to benefit even more.
You can scroll down to the HOW YOU CAN
HELP section to learn how you can help by

Mindy's has the largest enclosures of any Primate
Sanctuary, complete with wooden shelves and
perches for the monkeys to sit on and climb to.
Please bear in mind that many of the pictures
are taken at an angle, as the monkeys can be
sitting as high as 15 feet up in the air. This
could make the enclosures look smaller than
they actually are.
