Monkey Tales - April 2005   Message List

We would like to welcome the new members
to Monkey Tales.

Come Meet The Monkeys, see what they were,
who they have become and what they are up
to now.

This issue will introduce you to Rudy and
Gordy.

Rudy and Gordy are both 11 year old Rhesus
Macaques, who were retired from a research
laboratory in California in September 2004.
They arrived by plane. Rudy and Gordy
participated in research on brain function.
Rudy and Gordy are now spending their time
in a large 30' x 30' x 15' outdoor enclosure
with a 10' x 10' lock out extension area,
which is where they are when their enclosure
is being cleaned. This enclosure was partially
built with donations from the laboratory.
Their favorite fruit is grapes and their favorite
vegetable is sweet potatoes. While they have toys
in their enclosure, they do not have any interest
in them.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

When shopping online, please check to
see if the store that you will be making
your purchases from is listed with
http://www.igive.com If it is and you
list Mindy's as your charity of choice
the sanctuary will receive a portion of
your purchase donated, at no cost to
you. The amount donated varies by store.

For your convenience, donations can be made
online by clicking on "Make A Donation" on
the Mindy's homepage http://www.mindysmem.org
You can make a donation to the Building Fund
to help raise funds for housing future residents.
This fund was established after funds were not
raised quickly enough to rescue two research
monkeys, Ben and Norman, before they were
sold back into research. You can also donate
to the Mindy's General Fund.

If you know an animal lover and don't know what
to give as a gift, we have the solution. Send a
donation in their name and a card will be sent
letting them know you have made the donation.
