Hello,

A funny thing happened to me last night, I now own a 17 yr
old pony mare 1/2 Welsh 1/2 Morgan - look at her pedigree:
Misty has her 1/2 Welsh papers, but nobody bothered to apply
for her 1/2 Morgan papers.

She joins my other pony mare, DANZER who is 9 yrs old
a bay silver dapple tobiano reg. Pinto, who is Morgan in body type.
She was a pasture accident, her mom was a 2yr old  homzgous
tobiano paint, and her sire a Welsh pony yearling....ooops!
here's DANZER's web page with photos:

So when my pinto pony stud colt
who is GAITED (no trot) is old enough,
Then I should be well on my way to being able to make
some easy gaited:  Ponies4Grownies.com

In the mean time..... until my colt is ready.....
I had toyed with the idea of leasing a 13.3 hand reg. Morgan
stallion who's all lippet except for one cross to a
"government bred horse".  His owner calls him
her little brown stump puller !?!?!!?

EXCEPT that he's a trotter,
and I'm wanting ez gaits in my old age !?!?!?!
So my only other choice is to pay BIG BUCKS
for shipped semen to a true run-walk GAITED
creame Morgan stallion (14.3 hands).

My last foray into owning a reg. Morgan was a 14.2 hand mare,
who had a big engine, and she just could not get along with any
of my other horses :(    PLUS the woman I bought the mare
from  said the mare was gaited, and while the mare DID have
a fast walk, still.... she couldn't keep up with the flat walk of
my TWH trail riding buddies.

BTW,  I see on the Morgan Pony web page they don't list the
cross between Morgan X Welsh.  Strange, I'd think there have
been lots of those crosses......... ???

Laura

I have been breeding easy gaited ponies for about five years now.  The current economic crisis is a problem, for sure.  I recommend the video from the MFT...
