Description

North Texas Animal Rights Network (NTARN) was founded in December 2004, to enlist members who wish to elevate the level of animal rights activism in north Texas. Our network welcomes all persons with an activist spirit, whether your other organizational or personal interests are rescue, adoption, spay and neuter, animal abuse, fur and leather, hunting and fishing, animal fighting, zoos, circuses, rodeos, factory farming, animal research, vegetarianism, environmentalism, legislation, or anything else related to animal rights.

The moderator promotes animal rights rather than just animal welfare. Not "humane slaughter," but no slaughter. Not "better habitats and treatment," but no zoos, animal circuses or rodeos. Not "bigger stalls and cages," but no stalls and cages. Animals will never have rights until they are no longer considered property.

This is not a spectator sport. Members are encouraged to participate by direct actions, according to their individual abilities and talents. Contributions may include letter-writing and telephone calls, public education efforts, event planning and participation, program development, legislative work, or many other areas. Just don't sit there...make a difference.

We must be smart, persuasive, persistent, quick-acting and proactive, but never violent or destructive. Please note that this is not a rescue, adoption, spay-neuter or lost and found network. Off-topic posts will reluctantly be rejected, to maintain focus on our stated mission.

The big no-no: flaming members regarding posts on the message board. If it's posted, I approved it because I think it is useful for our members. Alternative views make us better informed and more effective advocates. Responses, debate and disagreement are welcome of course. Abusive messages sent either to the message board or to individuals offline may lead to removal from the network. This is an intimidation-free zone.
