Well to register St. Croix you need to breed to St.Croix to register off spring, no upgrading from other breeds. which is wise i my opinion, to retain their unique genes and a standard.
All breeds of sheep will have recessive genes that will throw occasional off color, like the all the all black lamb in Rambouillet.
Just like dog breeds, alot of mutts out there, which is fine.
