HI Stonewall & Mom,

Did your vet suggest Flax seed oil or Fish oil? I find with my guys that this
helps immensely with skin problems. Is Stonewall itchy or just the patchy skin?
I've seen darkening skin on fawn pugs in the summer (sun tan ?). I have 4 pugs
and my first, Samson, is almost always itchy. I have him and the other 3 on
Fish oil in the winter and it truly tames down the itchies. I give each of them
a 1000 iu capsule every 2 or 3 days - they love it, they think its a great
treat.

Hope this helps

Subject: [Ottawa PugNic] Skin Problems

Hello, I have a 9 month old fawn pug. I recently noticed dark spots on
his fur, and thought it was just new winter coat, but on closer
examination, I found that in these areas the fur was thinning and that
the dark marks were actually on his skin. We brought him to the vet,
who checked with a light for fungus but showed only minor signs, as a
trial we used Sebolux shampoo for a week (4 washes). No significant
improve, ment, the vet is not sure what is causing this and we are now
scheduled for a skin biopsy and hopes that will shed some light. I am
posting this just in case someone else has gone through a similar
situation and may be able to provide some insight. Any info
appreciated,

Stonewall's mom

Hi Stonewall and Mom, Another possibility could be a food allergy - you may want to try another kind of food and see if that helps. Pugs can be prone to many...
