This list will publish information about the barred owls that nest in our yard.
Barred owls (also known as 'swamp owl' or 'hoot owls') have brown eyes, round heads, and are 17 to 24 inches in length. They live in moist forests or wooded swamps across North America, ranging from southern Canada south throughout much of the Midwest and eastern United States and into the mountains of Mexico and Central America.
This list has followed the adventures of these owls since 2004. Their life has been touched by hurricanes and droughts. In spite of the difficulties they have persisted and multiplied. Their struggle is an inspiration to all that share their story. Videos
and still photographs
are also available.
