Top parrot behavior consultants no longer buy into
the "dominant" theory. Parrots don't do this in the
wild, as we used to think they did. And, again,
parrots are not dogs with a pack mentality so trying
to treat them like dogs can lead to all kinds of
problems.

Now we work to replace negative behaviors with
positive ones. And lots and lots and lots of loud,
silly praises for any behavior we want to see
repeated, like cuddling with someone other than the
owner. These things are processes and take time and
persistence, but they're far easier on the bird and
on YOU. And the results last longer.
