Hello Jon, there were 2 chicks from that hatch. One of them has one toe
that isn't straight. The other has several. Guess I better not get too
attached to the one. I think it would have been ok if the hen had hatched
them. Not so sure about these incubators. I noticed the chicks right after
hatching scrambling around in the bator with their nails getting caught in
the wire which could be a factor. Also not hatching out fast enough and the
little feet being all curled up too long. The mom probably knows
instinctively when to help. I have 5 eggs in the incubator but almost
positive 2 of them have died. I'll candle them some time today and remove
them. I'm almost relieved there are only 3 now. I believe the My free
range breeding cock is loosing his end feathers.........so happy we're near
the end of mating season. What a summer it's been!!!
