I live in Palmdale CA, Have a beautiful room to let. the room has a
great veiw and lots of storage space. I rescue dogs and have 4 boys
of my own. They are the masters of the house. We live according to
them so that they are comfortable. I am looking for someone who loves
animals. I have a Lhasa apso with speacial needs, a matured cockereal
spaniel, a docile coon and a loveable pit/shepeard mix. Since all of
them were rescued from abusive home, i cannot have anyone who has any
sort or animosity or dislike for dogs. They tend to sense it and it
might depress them. have a huge backyard yet my boys stay indoors.

I would like to have someone who would be more like a family member
and a friend and love my boys. People who love dogs unconditionally
only welcome.

Steve Pope is a wildlife rehabilitator in Pittsburgh, PA.  Recently
he came upon an injured deer that had been hit by a car.  There was
no way to save the deer and it was really suffering, moaning,
couldn't get up.  A police officer was waiting for a gun to shoot
the deer, not wanting to use his pistol.  At the time Steve arrived
the officer was just standing there waiting for a gun.
As a rehabber, Steve quickly and humanely put the deer to sleep.
After putting the deer to sleep the game department was notified to
pick up the deer.

Well, now Steve is being charged with failing to properly surrender
or dispose of the deer. Yet the game department was notified minutes
after the deer was put to sleep and they came and picked up the
deer. Some may ask why, well the game commission in Pennsylvania has
a practice of not referring baby orphaned or injured wildlife to
trained rehabilitators, instead, according to a confidential game
commission memo the wildlife officers are ordered to disceretly
acquire the animal and dispose of it.

Steve has been an outspoked critic of this practice and like anyone
else who speaks out againist the game officials in PA they are
harassed and there is an attempt to silence them.

What this rehabilitator did was humanely end the suffering of an
innocent animal who by the way had been struck by a car.  A human
caused his injuries and Steve helped the innocent animal.

Steve will have a trial before Judge William Wagner in about a month.
If you feel compelled PLEASE write in support of Steve and express
your feeling regarding this ridicilious prosecution for helping a
defensless injured deer.

I do not know how animal rights this group is but I saw the worst 2
ads by Miller Beer last week on Speed Channel during the Nascar
races.  The first one went something like:  A man grills two steaks.
Looks out toward the horizon.  Thinks (Narrator):  "Two cows.  What's
two more animals?  Who's going to miss them?  Hats off.  Thanks
Noah."  The man thanks Noah for "saving" the animals so we can eat
them.  Second Miller Beer ad:  A man grills hot dogs.  Thinks
(Narrator):  "Who cares what's in hot dogs?  What people are made
of?"  He looks down at hot dogs.  Smiles.  "Enjoy.  That's the
American Way.  That's Miller Life."  Since then I have quit drinking
Miller beer and drink other beer or drink pop.  "Hats off, Miller
Beer.  That's the American Way!"

On Wednesday, the Illinois state gov. is voting on the re-application
by Cavel International to build a horse slaughterhouse in DeKalb, IL.

Cavel falsified their original application to the extent that the
application was turned down. On Wednesday it will be decided whether
to give them another permit.
Please call the office of the governor at 217-782-6830 and tell them
that you are opposed to the slaughter of horses in this country where
we do not eat horsemeat. Tell them that you think the existing
slaughterhouses in Texas should be closed and that certainly another
should not be permitted in Illinois.

My name is Gus and I'm a 4-5 month old rescued puppy who is a mix of
staffordshire terrier and a bit of sharpee (see my wrinkly forehead!)
who is current on all vaccines and neutered. I was abandoned on the
streets of south central, but got rescued by an animal lover who

Dear Prime Minister Paul Martin:

I write to you as a supporter of Sea Shepherd and along with millions
of supporters worldwide to call your immediate attention to Stop the
Seal Hunt that is currently being conducted on the east coast of
Canada primarily off the shores of Newfoundland, Labrador, Nova
Scotia, Quebec and Prince Edward Island.

In this "seal cull", small baby harp and hood seals are hunted down
in their nurseries on the ice floes then systematically slaughtered
with clubs, hakapiks, rifles and shotguns.  Sanctioned by the
government of Canada, and permitted by provincial authorities, up to
350,000 defenseless baby seals are killed annually in this manner. In
addition, tens of thousands of these beautiful mammals are killed and
not accounted for as they are clubbed or shot and slip into the ice
to their deaths by drowning.

I oppose this hunt on both welfare and conservation grounds. The
unsustainable slaughter of these newborns will one day leave the
coasts of Canada bereft of the beauty these animals bring to your
people. It is unclear whether these migrating populations of harp and
hood seals can survive the intensity of this hunt that is poorly
regulated, unsustainable and breathtakingly cruel.

The killing floes where the slaughter occurs are a devastating trail
of endless red as sealers slaughter babies in front of their nursing
mothers. Whether they bleed to death from a hakapik, club, or are
shot with rifles and shotguns, the seals suffer an agonizing and
terrifying death through these methods.

Although the hunt occurs largely out of public sight on the ice
floes, crewmembers of Sea Shepherd have witnessed first hand the
inhumanity of the killing methods used in Canada on these sentient
marine mammals.

As you will be aware, seal watching on the ice floes is growing in
eastern Canada, where it is not only a popular activity for locals
and tourists alike, but is also a financially viable alternative to
butchering baby seals. No public relations campaign within Canada can
hide what is occurring on the killing floes, even if the public
rarely sees what happens.

The `Seal Hunt' turns Canada's pristine wilderness into a bloodbath,
and as such, are a direct threat to a real and valuable seal watching
industry that is growing worldwide, along with a growing respect and
care for marine life.

This hunt is an archaic and traditional practice that has to be
heavily subsidized by the federal Canadian government in order to be
sustained. In some communities, the seal hunt is maintained merely to
satisfy the needs of a few fishermen who supplement their incomes
from this brutal practice.

Your Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) insists that the seals
must die so that cod populations can increase. The DFO's position is
that the harp seal is a major predator of the cod, yet there is
little scientific justification for this position.

When the first European explorers landed on the East coast of Canada
there was no shortage of cod, and there were an estimated 30 million
seals. Today, there are under 5 million and numbers continue to
decline.

With cod populations at less than 1% of pre-Columbian levels, and
with the collapse of the cod industry, the seal has become the
scapegoat for the excesses of the Canadian and foreign drag trawler
fleets that plundered the Grand Banks for decades, and left very
little behind.

This bureaucratic ordered destruction of the seals has no place in
the 21st Century.

We are calling for an end to the baby harp and hood seal hunt. The
public outcry that occurs worldwide whenever the images from this
slaughtering of seals are publicized will not go away.

The dedication of individuals committed to ending this barbaric
practice will not go away.

Sea Shepherd is working to raise the awareness of the people of the
world and in particular in Canada, most of whom do not realize that
this hunt still takes place within their country.  And, who are
outraged when they learn their tax dollar is supporting this hunt.

Hello, my name is Barb, and I am new to the group.  To tell you a
little bit about myself upfront, I have 3 dogs and 3 cats, and am
very much an animal lover.  I am a member of several animal groups
(in some, I am a member through my other screen name "Lady_enya_1" -
which I mainly for my family and Yahoo groups of which I have
created).
That being said, I want to tell you about a petition, the Animal
Emergency Law, I created with a few close friends.  It was created to
protect the innocent - the animal.  The basic meaning of it is to
prohibit veterinarians from turning awan any animal in need
of "emergency" care due to the owner's inability to pay UPFRONT the
FULL cost of that one visit, and will enable the pet owner to create
an account in which to make substantial monthly payments to pay off
the account.  There are 3 true stories of terrible vet care (2 being
my own) which you can read about in the petition.  These stories,
along with many more that I have heard from pet owners, is what
caused me to create the petition.  If you have had a terrible
experience, would you consider sending me a personal email telling me

these stories in with the petition when I send it off.

For those of you who aren't aware who Ted Nugent is, please

This man publicly kills, slaughters, abuses and mutiliates animals.
His show is shown on VH1. He boasts of killing his first squirell
when some women were feeding it in the park. He has no respect,
understanding for animal life at all. He actualy admits that he "Gets
off on killing animals" and in his own words "Is never happier unless
he has a blood trail behind him".
  He takes sheer delight in the
extreme torture, suffering and violation of the animals he kills.

This is all shown on his show on VH1. It is worrying that he could be
brainwashing children, the impressionable in to thinking that such
acts are acceptable. Kids could start going out and
stabbing cats next, if we don't put a stop to this.

This man has recently been in the news for spitting on an animal
rights protestor after she tried to give him a leaflet, and making
racist remarks towards her.

probably many of you already know the Italian antivivisection
campaign "Close down Morini" - where Morini is a farm which has been
selling animals to vivisection laboratories (dogs and rodents) for
more than 30 years.  You can find info about the campaign on the

Anyway, we are now here to ask your help for a specific purpose: now
it's the time to make a STRONG pressure on the Mayor of S. Polo
d'Enza, the small town where the farm is located. Why? Well, let's
take a few steps back... two years ago, thanks to the huge protests
from the public opinion all over Italy, horrified by the use of
young beagle dogs in the vivisection laboratories, the Emilia
Romagna Regional Council approved a regional law stating that "cats
and dogs cannot be sold and used for experiments all over the
region". This law has caused a lot of problems to the Morini farm,
because its main income came from selling the dogs, more than
rodents or any other animal, to the laboratories.

But the vivisectors pressured the national Italian Government, so
the judgement of the validity of this law has been submitted to
the "Constitutional Court". The Court has been examining the case
for more than one year, during which time fortunately the law has
been applied, and the farm has not been authorized to sell dogs to
the vivisectors.

Few weeks ago came the result of the Court examination: a bad
result, because they decided that the law is not valid - they said
that a single
region cannot decide on this matter.

But at the moment the farm cannot sell dogs to the laboratories,
yet, because in order to have the necessary permission renewed, the
Mayor of the town must give an explicit authorization.

The former Mayor was absolutely in favour of the Morini farm, but A
FEW
WEEKS AGO A NEW MAYOR HAS BEEN ELECTED!
So it's really important to make pressure on him to convince him to
"reconvert" the farm to another activity.

The interesting and new event is that a few days ago an "Open
Meeting" of citiziens and companies operating in S. Polo has been
created.
They wrote an "open letter" to the Mayor, asking him to stop the
activity of the farm, both because of its cruelty and because of the
damage to the "image" of the region and consequently to the business
opportunities of all the other local companies**.

At this crucial moment, the Mayor must feel the responsibility for
such a choice. It's a fundamental moment.

For this reason, we invite all of your to send him and all the
regional council members, a "strong and clear" message. Here we
present a draft
message, but you are invited to write a personal one!

During the "Open Meeting", a network of animals shelter has been
activated, and they are ready to accomodate ALL the animals now kept
in the farm.

did any members see CNN news Tues night about the drinking men
kicking to death a baby seal in San Diego?  They also burnt the seal
with their cigarettes.  the seal died.

I hope that you will vote your conscience.  John Kerry is more for
the environment than Pres Bush.  He has been against the big lumber
companies and drilling in the Arctic.  He has voted consistently for
the environment and wildlife as has Sen Edwards.  They are for the
people-for health insurance, for cheaper medicines, for us to get

Over the past decade, the campaign to stop the bloody fur trade has
been enormously successful. The habit of wearing fur has been
exposed and stigmatized as blatant animal cruelty. But despite our
gains, we are now at a critical juncture. Some young celebrities
and designers are flaunting animal skins as coats and trim once
again, and the public is being swayed.
However, many celebrities and fashion models are still against fur
and many ones support our cause and even may do some work for an
animal protection organization.
More than ever before, we need to join together to speak out for the
40 million animals who are trapped, imprisoned, gassed, strangled
and anally electrocuted by the fur trade!
Say NO TO FUR, Please ,help our group fur is not alive now! Tell

This group is designed to educated peoples about the millions of
