I vacuumed Madison's butt a few weeks ago. She's having one of the
heaviest sheds I've ever seen on her. I'd use a cat-sized shedding
comb/brush and piles and piles of fur would come out. After I comb the
buns, I need to vacuum before the husband can come upstairs -- too much
bun fur gives him an asthma attack. So, the vac was right there, at
the waiting. I turned it on, held Madison upright on my chest, with my
back up against a wall, so we were braced and somewhat comfortable. I
put my hand on her butt (Hey, I've got a Dyson - so I didn't want to
risk her whole butt getting sucked into my purple vacuum...). and
gently vacuumed her.
It did seem to help and she tolerated it pretty nicely. I think she
was just relieved that I was getting rid of some of the excess fur.
She'll let me comb her until she's got bald spots on some sheds. (If I
can catch her first without major bloodshed. Once I pick her up, she
goes limp and i can do anything with her. But it's catching her that's
a trick..)
My MIL vacs their dog daily. Abby LOVES it and seeks out the vac
cleaner whenever she hears it. Abby is part collie/shep and sheds
CONSTANTLY. Our dog only sheds twice a year so we just throw sheets
over everything and do a bit more laundry. We bought my inlaws an
attachment online which fits their vac cleaner for the sole purpose of
vacuuming pets (for like $7 USA). They love it.
The PetBuddy looks like a small dryvac - with a different attachment on
the nozzle. I wonder if it's quieter than a wet/dry vac....that's what
gives most of our bunnies a scare - the noise.
