I run a parrot rescue out of my home. I don't charge any intake fees
or outgoing adoption fees of any kind. I run my rescue with a
different twist than others. Instead of keeping tons and tons of
birds waiting for homes what I do is have people fill out adoption
applications in advance. I will approve or deny them as they come in
until I have about three that are approved for each type of bird.
Then as I get a call for a bird that needs a home ,like a cockatoo
for instance ,I will call the next approved person for a cockatoo and
so on and so forth. As long as they get along with the bird and the
bird gets along with them then they get to adopt. If they don't get
along then the next person on the list gets moved up, and the ones
that didn't get along with this bird get to try again on the next
bird.
I also understand that life sometimes throws you a curveball and due
to forclosure,illness,death in the family,a move,divorce,job loss,
etc,you either must give up your parrot, or maybe you've been left
with a parrot of someone else's and you either can't or don't want to
keep it.I am a safe nonjudgmental place to come to place that parrot.
