Re: [rathens] Frightened PEW doing better

The PEW that nips does so when I stick my finger through the wires of the cage
and does so without warning but she is tame to handle out of the cage , Im
puzzled . Ill do the squeaking to her and see what happens ... Thank you .

Does she warn you before biting? When is she most likely to snap at you?

point were she dosnt squeal when I
pick her up and Im handling her without gloves now . She still will not
take a treat from my hand but jumps right on the treat after my hand
leaves the cage leaving the treat in the cage .My other PEW nips a
little but is not drawing blood . Is there a way to stop this behavior ?
I dont feed them through the cage .

Is that the only time she nips? Nipping through cage bars is a pretty common occurrence. It's one of the easiest behaviors to accidentally train into a rat....
