Well, I know several people have read this, but here it is for those that
have not:
When my daughter was about 11, we told her if she kept up on cleaning her
room she could have a pet. At the time we were thinking hamster or gerbil. I
didn't really like the idea of them much because they were too much like
RATS! But we could not have a cat (allergic friend) and my hubby would not
allow a dog, so I decided they were not that bad. At least they weren't
RATS! Anyway, my daughter come home from a friend's house one day and asked
if she could have a RAT. I thought, "NO WAY!" but I said that her dad and I
would discuss it. We did some checking on the Internet and came to the
conclusion that a rat appeared to be the perfect pet for her, so we decided
to give it a try. She got her first rat, Scabbers, in the fall of 2004. I
knew if I didn't hold him when he was little, I might not ever do it.
Well... that's all it took, I was hooked.
