I of course think you should have taken her to the
vet. Any rat with that much damage should see a vet.
I was also wondering how long the two rats lived
together? I'm hoping you don't get anymore rats, at
least for a while since you do have the babies and
maybe can't afford vet care(?). Also hoping you do
not get anymore rats from the place you got your
newest rats. Sorry to hear about your rattie. That
is truly horrible what happened to her. I've never
had a female act like that to a rat that had babies,
though I haven't had many litters at my house (I'd do
not plan to ever have another litter, just for those
of you who don't know.) Had they got along fine
before? I have heard about rats getting hormonal when
and shortly after pregnancy. I haven't heard about
another attacking a cage mate though.

Are you part of the problem? There are too many dogs and cats out there without
homes. Spay or neuter your pets.
