Following the success of last years Rat Healthcare Event at the
Animal Ark Veterinary Centre, another one will be held again this
year.

This event features general health information, emergency first aid
care, spotting illnesses, a section on herbal and natural treatments,
treating simple ailments yourself plus a question and answer session
with the vets and/or nurses at the practise.

Basically this course is designed to keep the need for an out-of-ours
emegency vet at bay and for you to be able to spot and treat problems
yourself until you can get to a vet during normal practise hours.
It's also designed to help you spot some problems very early on and
to treat simple things for yourself (cleaning abcesses and wounds
etc). You get shown how to clip teeth and nails, how to make up your
own saline and rehydration fluids, what to keep in your rat first aid
box and lots more.

The event this year will be held around June (final date to be
confirmed), the price of tickets will depend on how many people
attend (the money raised through the tickets pays for Animal Ark's
fee for holding the event, provision of light refreshments
(sandwiches, snacks, salads, drinks) plus stationery requirements
(printer ink, paper, folders). I do not make money from this
event). The event itself is run through the Estuary Rat Club but you
do not have to be a member to attend.

Animal Ark is located in Goodmayes, Essex and is easy to reach by car
and mainline train services, (two buses required from nearest
underground station).

Anybody interested in attending should send an email to me, Lora, at
FiloFox@.... You will be sent more details nearer the time
(contacting me is not a committment to attend) including date and
time of event, number of places available and ticket price.

Whilst people who attended last year are welcome to return, they
should take note that the talk will cover the same subjects and that
priority for places will be given to those who have not attended
before (any left over places will then be offered to people who came
last year).
