I am looking for information on breeding habits of S. lilith. Everything I have searched suggested they just arent known- but I have to imagine someone

It could be several reason, filter is clogged, not very good water quality, feeding them too hard, too many fish in a small tank, bad circulation of the water.

... Make sure -- TEST IT, that you have dechlorinated the water. That behavior is typical of gill damage caused by water changes with residual chlorine. More
