Early in 2008, the Forest Preserve had planned to TEAR DOWN THE FENCES and GET RID OF THE DOG PARK at Schweitzer Woods. It was only through the focused efforts of dog owners that we were able to preserve this wonderful area for our dogs.

Next year (2009), Schweitzer Woods will have a NEW proposal for development. They are going to keep the dog park, but what about parking? What about bathroom and water facilities? If we want to enjoy our dog park, we need to work together to make our needs known to the Forest Preserve.

This is a group dedicated to preserving the Schweitzer Woods dog run in the Kane County Forest Preserve, located in West Dundee, Illinois. We are also working to allow Allan and Jean Ferbert to continue in their role as onsite caretakers of the property, as they have done for over 25 years.
