This is a group for dog trainers (both paid and volunteer) who work with dogs in a brick-and-mortar shelter environment to talk about a variety of issues we have in common: training, evaluations, curriculum development, behavior and rehabilitation issues, staff and volunteer programs,and education programs.
Because we feel that the issues of shelter trainers are often different from those trainers who work with a foster-based rescue groups not in the shelter environment, we are asking for your understanding to apply to this e-mail list *only* if you are *currently* working or volunteering in a brick-and-mortar shelter. There is a new list called Rescue Behavior, and you can join that by sending a blank email to: RescueBehavior-subscribe@yahoogroups.com .
Because euthanasia is a fact of life whether we work for a no-kill or a full-service shelter, this list should be a place where we can discuss--not debate--this difficult part of shelter work. Please no flames or disrespectful comments to each other.
