Are you looking to adopt a Sphynx? Do you have a Sphynx you would like to re-home? Then this is the place for you! My goal is to start a list similar to those for other breeds that would help with the re-homing process, transportation and removal of Sphynx and other hairless breeds from shelters. Although there is not a huge amount of cats from this rare breed showing up in shelters, it does happen occasionally.
Tips on the proper care and grooming (yes I said grooming) for this beloved breed will also be discussed. My goal is to educate the public on the personality and lifestyle of these cats as well as the requirements to keep them healthy and happy. It happens all too many times that people do an impulse buy when it comes to animals and never really think out the possibility of devoting 15-20 years to a pet.
Although the purpose of this group is rescue, I also welcome breeders to post available retired adults for adoption. In my experience, most Sphynx breeders do their own type of rescue when it comes to their beloved kittens by taking them back when things don't work out. Sphynx breeders are wonderful and are always looking to better the breed as well as dedicating themselves to finding forever homes for their retired naked babies.
Because this group is ideally for rescue, all cats must be spayed or neutered prior to being placed in their forever homes. This is not to be taken lightly as recreational breeding is detrimental to the breed.
No flaming is tolerated, but of course all posts are open to criticism when done in a respectful way. Have fun!
