Subject: [steelcitydiscdogs] Arctic Air Games-- Steel City Disc Dogs took away some top ribbons!
Arctic Air Games was a huge success for some steel city disc dog
members! I have to say how proud i was to have some representation
for our club AND that we were all sooo successful! In all, SEVENTY
teams came out for this awesome event!! I must say it was a lot of
fun--tons of spectators and several news venues came to see some of
the fun!
HUGE congrats to Tom and Roxy for their FIRST place finish in the
novice division toss fetch competition. Tom had some great throws and
roxy some AMAZING catches! Roxy actually placed second overall in the
toss fetch event so only one person out of seventy had more points; an
expert level player! Roxy had lots of fun and was CLEARLY ready to play!
Tom's fiance, Pattie(y?) brought along her dog Arturo (a yorki-poo)
who also competed. While he didn't catch any in the competition, i
saw him make some pretty awesome catches outside and even a nice flip!
He went out and competed in three events and really did a great job,
he didn't get afraid and wasn't too distracted by the cheering
crowd--i must say he was a crowd favorite because he's not the typical
disc dog--i look forward to seeing more of this great lil pup in the
future!
Cheryl and Action Jackson placed FIFTH in intermediate toss
fetch--jackson was a little unsure about the texture of the flooring
but still managed a really nice toss fetch round. Jackson placed a
HUGE third place in Intermediate freestyle--he wowed the crowd with
some HUGE "overs"--he flew over Cheryl's chest and face...lucky she's
short!! In the overall scoring Jackson and Cheryl PLACED FIRST IN THE
INTERMEDIATE DIVISION! HOW awesome!!!! they did an excellent job!
Shayne... oh my shayne... last year the joke was all she did was
"snort lines" because she ignored me and spent the whole time licking
and sniffing the lines on the field (they line the field with
flour)--our GOAL for this year was for her to break her addiction to
the lines! This year she did awesome she had a big T/F round for
her--she placed 8th in toss fetch intermediate level. Shayne had a
less than great freestyle round (but hey, she didnt snort the lines!),
she placed 7th in the intermediate division. She had a beautiful back
vault in the routine and she had lots of fun playing. She placed 8th
overall in the intermediate division.
It was an excellent event--it's run really well and it goes really
fast, considering there were 70 dogs! I cannot say enough about this
competition and how much fun it is! I hope some more people come out
for this event next year--it really is lots of fun and a GREAT
competition for beginners!!
Pictures and Video to be uploaded shortly!
CONGRATULATIONS JACKSON, ROXY, TURO, and SHAYNE for an AWESOME
competition!
