First and foremost I want to thank everyone who has donated towards the girls surgeries thus far.

Pictures of the girls can be seen here (first 14 pictures)

Three of the girls are scheduled for surgery Tuesday, November 24th.  I still haven't raised enough money to pay for their surgeries.  Please if you can make a donation, no amount is too small.  My paypal is rattie_beanez@...  One of the girls will also be having a biopsy done on her skin cells to diagnosis a potential problem.  I discovered a fourth rattie (one of Dru's hairless girls) has a tumor as well.
The pew rattie with the largest tumors will be scheduled soon.

I've been trying to think of different ways to raise funds for these surgeries and their medications.  I've been treating them since day 1 to ensure they're strength during surgery and have literally no medication on hand as of today.

I have some cages (mostly Martins) I'm putting on Craigslist.  If anyone is interested and lives close enough for pick-up here is the link for pictures:
None are galvanized.  I am located in Nassau County on Long Island (NY state).

(1) 10 Gallon Tank with Topper
  Topper measures 20" x 18" x 12"
Height including tank is approximately 29"

(2)  The Rat Retreat (R-685)

  • 30" x 18" x 24"
  • 3˝" drop in style plastic pan
  • 2 full levels
  • Ramps with small landing in between so ramp isn't steep
  • Front door for access to bottom level
  • Full flip-top lid for easy access to top level

(1)  The Rat Skyscraper (R-695)
  • 30" x 18" x 36"
  • Three ramps
  • Two balconies
  • Full middle floor
  • Drop-in 3˝" plastic pan

(2)  The Rat Cubbyhole (R-660)
  • 24" x 14" x 16"
  • One ramp & balcony
  • Drop-in 3" plastic pan

I also have a store on ebay called Outta The Kloset.  The holidays are approaching fast and I do have many items that are "New With Tags" & "New In Box".  These items are not rattie related but here is the link for the store if anyone is interested in donating this way:

To just make a donation (any amount is greatly appreciated), my paypal is rattie_beanez@...

Thanks so much for reading this urgent message & please CROSSPOST if you have the time.

Ok call me paranoid but I don't think the messages from Tracy's
Blackberry are from Tracy.
She said in her original message that her Blackberry had been stolen and
the thieves were using her stolen Blackberry to phone their lost phone.

Tracy, if you get this it might be an idea to go into your groups
preferences and stop your stolen Blackberry accessing the groups.

Sunday at 12:00 NOON we are having a peaceful demonstration at Tacoma Humane Society (the public sidewalk in front of  the shelter).
Please bring a flower(s) for Copper and kind words for him. This is to demonstrate that one little rabbit WILL help bring about policy changes, and one day, legislation to protect animals deemed "unadoptable" that have a safe place to go. This is just the beginning of what we hope will become "Copper's Law". Please help us honor Copper and the other lost animals like him that we must stand up for. The shelter is located at 2608 Center Street Tacoma, WA 98409. Please bring a sign with a peaceful message or plea- not negative.

I accidentally locked the pitbull into Sven's office last night so the thieves who have been breaking into houses all over Beverly Hills in recent weeks took the opportunity to gas us and break into our bedroom while we were unconscious!!! They rifled through everything and took all our cash and phones as well as Sven's keys but when they were about to take our car the dog got out and scared them so they tripped the alarm and dropped their phone and are now calling FROM my Blackberry to find their lost phone so maybe they will catch the idiots?!?!?!

Go Ahead:  This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

(5)
Loud Sigh:  This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men.  A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing.  (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

(6)
That's Okay:  This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7)
Thanks:  A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint.. Just say you're welcome.  (This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - which is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all.  DO NOT say 'you're welcome' -- that will bring on a 'whatever'.)

(8)
Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying F-- YOU!

(9)
Don't worry about it, I've got it:  Another dangerous statement , meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking, 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response, refer to # 3.

* Send this to the men you know, to warn them about arguments they can avoid if they remember the terminology.

* Send this to all the women you know to give them a good laugh because they know it's true!!!

There is someone in the area with a litter of ratties that need homes...I don't know all the details, I know there are about 12 babies, some black/white, some tan/white, some with unique markings and I guess about 7-8 weeks old...the girl who has them says people have inquired and not shown up to see them/pick them up, etc and says she may have to turn them over to the local humane society to be adopted out. I don't know how the local humane societies deal with rats, but thought I'd post the information in case anyone in the northern IL/Southern WI area could help. Email me privately for her contact info.

Today's economy has hit everyone hard - even our good friend, Drusilla.  For those that have been in the rat rescue community for many years, I'm sure you'll agree that Dru has always been the first one to step up to help anyone in need.  Due to lack of work for many months, now it is time to "pay it forward" and extend the same kindness and generosity that she has always shown to others.

We are having a raffle to raise funds for Drusilla, and the raffle will end on December 1st at which time the winning numbers will be drawn.  The prizes will be awarded on-down-the line .... the first ticket drawn will get first choice of all the prizes.  Second ticket drawn gets second choice... drawing until all prizes are awarded.

With the upcoming holiday season there are many wonderful prizes that would make terrific gifts!

Check out the prize page at:

Tickets are $1.50/USD each

Just want to post a quick update and say hi. Sorry for the mass e-mail and please feel free to cross post. Thank you everyone for your extraordinary help & good wish, and for the raffle. Everything helps. For those of you a little baffled with my situation, I will give a quick synopsis. As has been obvious, over the last year our financial situation has been going south dramatically. Suffice it to say, there were years of bad decisions and other things setting the stage for disaster, but when my freelance work petered out completely, that was the straw that broke the camels back. I will not go into my mental state and what I did or should have done, but 2 weeks ago, I hit bottom and had a major meltdown. Some incredible friends helped in a way so huge I can't begin to describe. The facts of the matter are that we are selling our apartment asap. Please send prayers and good mojo because we have an offer, and all we need is for the buyer's financials to be solid and the approval of the coop board. It would be wonderful for the sale to go through. I will declare bankruptcy to get out of the rest of the debt on my end. Then God willing we will make a fresh start. I have to say that I cannot thank Tracy enough for recruiting her mom and lawyer friends to help, and for her offer for us to come down and stay with her. We will probably do that (we can't afford to live in NYC anyway). I also want to say that Matt has been positively amazing, summoning up strength and maturity that I think even he didn't know he had. So that's it. We are living hand to mouth at the moment, so again thanks for the raffle. The next few weeks will be hard, but with the love and support of all of you, I no longer feel hopeless. I can only get internet at the library, so if you want to write me, write me directly please (I have 800 e-mails). I try to check once a day. Thank you for thinking kindly of me.
Love, Drusilla
