Friday January 18th I took my dog to the Jennie Dean Dog park. He was
being harassed by a larger dog. (My dog is about 60 pounds.) The dog
that was being aggressive to him then knocked me down flat on the
ground into the mud and asphalt. Then jumped on my back. I am still
recovering. Clothes are washed and clean, but my injuries are not gone
away yet.

Wednesday January 23 I stopped at the Walter Reed Dog park. We didn't
even get through the gates before a foxhound was snarling and trying
to bite my dog. He *(my dog) was anxious to go in so I opened the
gate. Five dogs pounced on him and harassed him with aggressive
behavior. The owners were doing NOTHING about it. The dogs had my dog
on his back and were steady attacking. One owner did pull one of his
dogs off and my dog broke away and ran to me. These dogs continued to
attack and I smacked them with the non-buckle end of the leash to get
them off us. Okay - now these dogs are attacking BOTH of us and the
owner is saying 'don't hit my dog'. I was not in a situation where I
could do anything to get my dog out of there - surrounded by attacking
dogs, and I was not hitting them hard, just flipping the end of the
leash at them to distract so we could get away. We made it down the
hill - with the other dogs chasing us, My dog WANTED to leave - he
never wants to leave the dog park, just so you know.

I am not believing that the man would be more concerned for his dogs
than for another human, for one thing, the other thing is that I can't
believe no one would even try to control their dogs! The owners,
except for the one man were just standing there watching like it was a
spectator sport. These dogs were all big animals with known aggressive
genes but these people were unwilling to control them.
Needless to say I am really unhappy with the dog parks right now and
have no wish to return anytime soon.
