Hello to all,
Thank you for participating in the USDF Delegates Yahoo Newsgroup. Due
to feedback received at the recent convention in Denver, the Yahoo
Newsgroup will no longer be active and will not be used by USDF staff
to communicate with delegates. However, we are planning to create a
more efficient and user friendly method of communication in the near
future. It is important to keep the lines of communication open and we
certainly encourage it. Once the new method of communication has been
determined, a notification from the USDF office will be sent out.
Thank you again for your participation! We hope everyone has a
wonderful holiday season!
Sincerely,

Open Forum
Release:
November 18, 2008
By Jennifer Keeler
The USEF Dressage Committee invites all members of the dressage community to
participate in an open forum on Thursday, December 4, from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
local time during the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Annual
Convention in Denver, CO. The Dressage Committee hopes for as much input as
possible on the Performance Standards Rule Change Proposal during this open
forum. We also would like to further discuss the challenges for regions outside
the major competition areas, and also review the latest version of the proposed
Rider Test.
Additionally, the USEF Dressage Committee will be considering a new initiative
to review the consistency of U.S. judging. In the quest for
improvement and growth of our sport, the Dressage Committee is looking forward
to a constructive exchange of ideas at the open forum.
Dear USDF GM and PM Delegates, GMO Presidents and Council and
Committee Chairs:
In preparation for the 2008 Adequan/USDF Annual Convention a number of
business documents have been posted on the USDF Web site for review.
These include the proposed fiscal year (FY) 2010 budget, which spans
April 1, 2009 - March 31, 2010. Also posted is a document titled
USDF Proposed Budget - Fiscal Year 2010 - Overview. This document
outlines the budget balancing measures taken including cost cuts, a
dues increase proposal, and fee adjustments. These documents can be
found at http://www.usdf.org/about/about-usdf/financials/index.asp.
The budget will be discussed at the annual convention in Denver at the
open Budget Meeting for Council/Committee Chairs on Wednesday,
December 3, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The budget will be presented to
the USDF Board of Governors (BOG) for final approval on Friday,
December 5. USDF policy requires the Executive Board to present, to
the BOG, a balanced budget for final approval.
Other documents available for review are pre-convention council and
committee and regional director reports, Summary of Executive Board
Meeting minutes, BOG General Assembly agenda, revised Council and
Committee Handbook, and the updated 2008 Bylaws and Policies &
Procedures documents. The documents can be found at
http://www.usdf.org/about/about-usdf/governance/index.asp on the USDF

Good afternoon,
We have been informed by our convention events coordinator the date,
location and time that delegates (both GMO and PM) will be able to
pick up their ribbons, as well as attend the delegate information
session. The information has been provided below.
Wednesday, December 3rd, 9 AM to 12 PM - Gold Meeting Room
Thursday, December 4th, 9 AM to 1 PM - Tower Court C Meeting Room
The above information is subject to change, but as of now, it appears
as though it is final. If there are any changes, a new message will be
posted. Thank you!
Dear Delegates (GM and PM) and GMO Presidents:
As we approach the 2008 USDF Convention, I'd like to take this
opportunity to provide some information regarding the governance
restructuring project that was begun earlier this year.
As you may remember, one of the goals of USDF's strategic plan was to
take a serious look at USDF's governance structure. The objective of
this review is to not only improve the governance process through
better communication and more informed decision making, but also to
create a governance system that is more efficient, cost-effective and
able to take USDF into the future. To enable this review, the USDF
Executive Board established the Committee on Governance, of which I am
the chair.
To date, the Committee has had one face-to-face meeting and two
conference calls. Following the meeting, a preliminary report was
sent to the Committee members. This report has been revised, but is
still in draft form. It has not yet been distributed beyond the
Committee. In addition, to help develop some of the more difficult
issues, two working groups were established and are currently hard at
work. Their ideas will be added to the report and discussed by the
Committee.
The following are important points regarding the Governance project:
1.There will be no vote on governance issues at the 2008 USDF
Convention and no related Bylaws changes will be put forth.
2.Discussions within the Committee and with the Executive Board and
other volunteer leadership will continue in 2009. Input will be
sought from the membership and the Committee's proposal will be
modified as needed. The Committee recognizes the need to involve all
USDF stakeholders in these important discussions and intends to do so
as soon as a more fully-developed proposal exists.
3.The Committee continues to believe that the GMOs are the cornerstone
of USDF and is committed to continuing GMO representation in the
governance process.
I am pleased that Delegates are taking an active interest in this
endeavor and hope to have a lively discussion once the proposal is
ready to be presented.
Alison Head, Chair, Committee on Governance.
Hello,
Back in August the GMO Delegate Authorization Forms were mailed to
each USDF GMO. To date, we have had a poor return of GMO delegate
appointments in the USDF office. If you are affiliated with a GMO, are
an official or President of a GMO, please remember to complete your
form and mail it back to the USDF office. If for some reason you have
not received the GMO Delegate Authorization Form, please contact me at

Thank you and have a great day!

Peter, good idea but not everyone will check a group site. If pertinent issues come directly to the delegates, without having to check into a special place, that would work. If the delegates need to periodically check into a special section, it won't happen.

It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Find your travel deal here.

A problem with Yahoo E-groups -- you put your brain on cruise control, hit "reply" and instead of going to a single person the message goes to the whole group!
