Guess who got another hematoma?   Message List

RE: [weimaraner] Guess who got another hematoma?

Lay her ear over the top of her head and then put an Ace bandage round and round nice and snug, to keep it in place. Or have you already tried that? If she shakes her head with the bandage on the ear won't flap around and develop a new hematoma. Then try to find out if she is allergic to something in her food. Try a whole new dog food - like buffalo & sweet potato or something weird. Something is tickling in her ear and making her shake her head. This can be a food allergy that is causing it. (I know - it sounds strange, but it happens).

Thanks, but I don’t think I have the courage to do it if it involves blood and sticking something into her ear. I’m hoping it’s small enough to reabsorb. I’m considering making a hat for her to wear so she stops shaking her head.

There is a way to treat them yourself with teat tube but I don’t remember exactly how it’s done.  I can check if you want me to though.

Will it ever end! I was cleaning Vesta’s ears this AM and there it was, another  puffy spot.  So tomorrow at nine we’re off to the vet for an evaluation. He said to fast her-that does not please me because she just had surgery on 9/2 for a hematoma. This one is on the same ear. I’m really ready to let it just shrivel, my poor girl has just been through too many of these surgeries . I also think I should look into pet insurance……..
