Re: [weimaraner] weim vomiting question

Yes, a foreign body is another possibility. My friend had a lovely young Dalmatian that she had begun showing. One of the things used to get her perky in the ring was a fur covered thing that looked like a rat/mouse/whatever. The dog didn't get to play with it, but stole it and chewed it up. What makes the head look pointy is a clear cone-shaped piece of plastic. It remained in her stomach and moved around. When it would get stuck in the opening to the duodenum, she would eat but then vomit because the food couldn't pass through. When the cone moved, she would eat and some food would pass through, the cone would get stuck again and she would vomit the rest of the food. (This is why Chris' post is important.) The stomach and the intestines were x-rayed and the plastic never showed up. They waited too long to do exploratory surgery and lost her on the table. Earlier surgery or an endoscopic view might have saved her. Dogs eat freaky things, as any Weim owner knows.  Liz

Cam,
A friend of mine had a sheltie with intermittent vomiting. She
eventually found that he had swallowed a plastic bottle cap that didn't
pass out of the stomach..... pass out of the stomach.....<wbr>.very ha
vet. Just another possibility.
Billie
