A group for owners and lovers of deaf and/or blind "white" Great Danes. All are welcome, however this is not an anonymous group. You must provide name, snail mail address and phone number to the list owner when you join. List activity is moderate, with an average of about 175 messages a month. Members range from those considering getting their first deaf and/or blind Dane to those with years of experience with these special dogs. The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask and should have, so ask away.
While anything related to the care, training, genetics, health and general ownership of these dogs are allowed, as well as general chit chat, everyone is expected to be civil and courteous. Bashing and flaming will not be allowed. This is not a dog brokerage, no posts about dogs in need or people looking for a dog. If you have any of those, send them to me privately, off list, and I will see that they get forwarded to the proper rescues.
Discussions should be fact based. If you state an opinion, make sure it is clear that it is only an opinion. If you are suggesting theories, procedures, or products, or are promoting an idea or philosophy, be prepared to offer supporting, objective documentation or evidence, especially if these are "alternative" or not based on science. You should reference documentation and/or supporting information when ever possible in all discussions. Everyone is free to think as they wish, and to believe in whatever they want. Folks can believe in the Shroud of Turin and little green men for all I care. Your beliefs are your own. But, if you are going to use this list to try and get folks to see things your way, or believe the things you believe, be prepared to debate the issues based on facts and data, not opinions and anecdotes. This can be a wonderful resource and a nice community from which we can all derive knowledge and support. All it takes to make that happen is for all of us to participate and to follow these simple basic rules
